Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to work in an Emergency Room / Med Surg unit with rotating shifts, requiring a compact or SD RN license and at least 2 years of experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Critical Access Hospital setting across both ER and Med Surg unitsCare for both emergency and med / surg patient populations with up to 25 bedsTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 3 to 4 on Med Surg, depending on census and acuityHands-on ER and Med Surg nursing with up to 5 patients at a timeUses Epic EMR (Epic experience provided in orientation if needed)Utilizes Sanford One Charge and Pyxis medication systemsRotating 12-hour day and night shifts, totaling 36 hours per weekRequired to work every other weekend and holidayUp to three on-call shifts per 13-week contractWill float between ER and Med SurgResponsibilities include providing direct patient care in both emergency and med / surg settingsMust be able to function independently and handle varied acuityTraining includes Epic computer training, 1 day of ER training, and 1 day of Med Surg trainingDress code requires navy scrubs with no logos; white may be worn underneath or with a lab coatApplicants who have previously worked for Sanford Health must have at least a 6-month gap from their previous assignmentCandidates with a permanent address within 80 miles are considered local and may receive a different pay rateAll clinicians must badge in and out at the facilityHoliday coverage is requiredFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyRequirements
Active SD or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experienceAt least 6 months of Med Surg and ER experience within the past yearCurrent BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications requiredNRP certification required (can be obtained onsite with approval)TNCC certification preferredPrior experience working with Epic charting system is a plusBenefits
