Apply today!Job Description The NRF Legacy Material Engineering unit is seeking an engineer to support radioactive waste management projects including coordinating efforts across NRF, developing implementation and project execution plans, processing transuranic and other complex wastes, and setting the waste management standards.

The engineer develops the engineering controls (radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene), work procedures and supporting documents necessary for performing work on, testing of, or handling radioactive and / or nuclear material.

The engineer provides engineering support as work is executed to ensure compliance with engineered work products, including any updates or changes needed for work execution procedures.

The engineer develops engineered drawings, sketches, containment design, ESH controls and lifting and handling diagrams to support unique and complex projects.

The engineer develops plans and reports and perform environmental characterization and investigation activities pursuant to local and federal regulatory programs.

  • Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience;
  • or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience;

or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE / ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.
