Title : Specialist I, Regional Transportation
Under general supervision, maintains payroll processes for the Operations Division.
Essential Functions :

- Establishes extra activity pay schedule for bus drivers and monitors (unique DeKalb employee situations)
- Checks payroll runs to ensure correct information is entered
- Creates and maintains monthly payroll calendars for department users and provides information on payroll processing dates
- Provides cross-departmental training of payroll procedures using system knowledge and technical aptitude when requested
- Compiles payroll balancing spreadsheets after every pre-calc (test) payroll run and every final payroll run; distributes completed spreadsheets to designated staff in payroll for their review and recordkeeping;
reports any out-of-balance situations to designated staff
- Communicates with Payroll, Human Resources, and other divisions / departments concerning payroll errors and corrections
- Creates reports on demand from the payroll database
- Processes timesheets and requisitions from bus drivers after field trips have been taken and provide invoices to schools, centers, etc. for payment
- Handles assignment of bus drivers for field trips and maintain appropriate and relevant communications among school bus drivers, regional managers, and administrators
- Receives and responds to telephone calls, email, and voicemail messages involving field trips, and ensures that all concerns from all parties (e.
g., bus drivers, students, parents) are answered or directed to the appropriate personnel to resolve
- Maintains all field trip information in the field trip management program and trains schools and centers on how to input and retrieve requests
- Notifies all parties (e.g., drivers, staff, and administrators) of upcoming field trips or cocurricular events and procedural changes related to field trip assignments
- Recognize and initiate more efficient processes to increase productivity
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or equivalent completed college coursework from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum three years of previous technical level Payroll, Human Resources, or closely related experience required.
