Position Overview : The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs for drywall and / or painting services, preparing detailed proposals, and supporting the sales team in securing new business.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for drywall and / or paint materials.
- Prepare comprehensive and competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to develop accurate and timely proposals.
- Identify and evaluate potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain and update pricing databases, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather necessary project information.
- Assist in negotiating contracts with clients and subcontractors.
- Track and analyze project costs, budgets, and schedules to ensure estimates are aligned with actual project outcomes.
- Provide support in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to project estimates.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an estimator in the drywall and paint industry.
- Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes specific to drywall and painting.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and specifications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
