Summary :
The Legal Counsel - Medicare will monitor all aspects of the Medicare compliance program, including policy management, compliance training and education, effective communication channels, claims, investigations and corrective actions, and monitoring, auditing and reporting.
Location :
Reporting into the Chicago (N. Wacker Dr.) office Monday-Friday.
Job Duties :
- Serves as a subject matter expert on Medicare compliance matters; delivering relevant regulatory compliance guidance in a meaningful and actionable manner and partnering with other business areas to execute on Medicare compliance requirements.
- Supervise compliance / QA staff on its review of customer interactions, handling of customer complaints, marketing advertising materials, sales activity, and other interactions.
- Evaluates compliance training for all levels of staff to support an awareness and understanding of Medicare requirements and promote a culture of compliance accountability.
- Collaborate with Legal department on privacy and regulatory issues including but not limited to TCPA, HIPAA, CCPA, Consumer Privacy, and Data Protection matters.
- Serve as point-of-contact for external regulatory and enforcement actions (i.e., data requests, audits, etc.), CMS, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
- Prepares reports and presentations required by senior leadership regarding Medicare compliance activities.
- Monitor and provide guidance regarding applicable federal and state laws, other insurance regulations and internal OneDigital policies and procedures to ensure effective customer service and mitigate corporate risk.
- Create, review, modify, update, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Provide general legal research on various matters for OneDigital and affiliated companies;
- Provide strategic support to SVP, Legal and Compliance and function as part of a corporate legal team to meet the overall objectives.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of (but not limited to) 3 years’ experience as a licensed attorney in good standing with 2+ years of CMS and Medicare Advantage programs experience required.
- Prior experience in insurance, employee benefits, labor & employment law, and / or at carrier or broker agency firm a plus.
- Excellent research, writing, presentation, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex material into user-friendly end product.
- Possess general business acumen with a consultative approach to legal and compliance focused on operational efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Self-motivated, high energy, enthusiastic individual with the ability and desire to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products and systems.
