The College of Nursing at Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU Tri-Cities) is currently seeking to fill two clinical career-track faculty positions, one for each of the following advanced nursing practice programs :
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
The College of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing to over 1,000 students system-wide at campuses in Spokane, Vancouver, Tri-Cities, and Yakima.
Our faculty are passionate about teaching and working with students in a variety of settings across the nursing programs that we offer.
The College of Nursing at WSU Tri-Cities offers 1) Prelicensure BSN, 2) RN to BSN, 3) Masters of Nursing (MN), 4) Doctor of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner, 5) Doctor of Nursing Practice-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
We seek faculty with clinical expertise and scholarly focus that will contribute to our strengths in teaching nursing in the following areas : primary care across the lifespan, family practice, acute care, pediatrics, obstetrics, mental health, behavioral and community health.

Clinical faculty are responsible for :
Teaching undergraduate, masters, and / or doctoral students in didactic, clinical, and laboratory courses.
Advising undergraduate and / or graduate students.
Maintaining an ongoing program of scholarship.
Disseminating scholarly findings.
Serving on graduate students’ committees.
Providing service to the department, College of Nursing, and university communities as well as the nursing profession.
The responsibilities for all ranks include 80% teaching, 10% scholarship, and 10% professional and university service.
Required Qualifications for Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, and Clinical Professor Ranks :
Doctor of Nursing Practice or other related doctorate at time of hire.
Current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
At least 2 years of full-time clinical practice.
Meet eligibility requirements for RN licensure and ARNP licensure with prescriptive authority in the state of Washington.
Additional required qualifications for Clinical Associate Professor Rank
Currently serving in the rank of an Associate Professor or equivalent at a post-secondary institution, or;
Typically, at least five (5) years of academic teaching experience as well as academic and professional service.; and at least five (5) years of clinical scholarship including refereed publications, presentation at national conferences, and / or contribution to professional guideline development.
Additional required qualifications for Clinical Professor Rank
- Currently serving in the rank of a Full Professor or equivalent at a post-secondary institution, or;
- Typically, at least ten (10) years of teaching and scholarship, including national and / or international publications, funded clinical projects and / or research;
and held leadership positions in national and / or international professional organizations.
Preferred Qualifications for all Ranks :
Experience in teaching didactic and clinical courses and advising graduate and / or undergraduate nursing students.
Experience with technology-assisted education modalities.
Experience working with diverse populations and / or students.
Demonstrated ability to utilize practice-based research studies to address salient nursing and health care issues.
Nursing leadership experience and engagement in professional nursing organizations.
Interdisciplinary / interprofessional collaboration in practice and / or education
Experience as a preceptor for prelicensure Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN), family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and / or Psychiatric Mental Health nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) students.

Temporary Position :
This is a temporary, fixed term, career track appointment which is intended to be renewed annually dependent upon performance, funding, and mutual agreement.
Position Term :
9 months. The position will follow the academic year; August 16, 2024 to May 15, 2025 .
