Work Schedule :

Full-time, 100% FTE, day shift. Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm, no weekends required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Pay :

We are seeking an Optician (ABO, NCLE) to :

  • Join the UW Health Eye Care Team who provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
  • Assist patients with selecting the right fit, shape, style of eyewear and dispense contact lenses.
  • Perform eye-glass repairs and adjustments.
  • Educate patients and families on proper eye-wear care.

Education :

Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred -

  • Completion of an accredited Optician Vision Care Program
  • Some continued education courses

Work Experience : Minimum -

Minimum -

  • Computer experience required
  • Previous eye care experience

Preferred -

  • One or more years optician experience
  • Lab training or experience preferred
  • Contact lens training or experience preferred
  • Optical lab experience and / or optometric technician experience
  • One or more years of work experience with processing insurance claims

Licenses and Certifications :

Minimum - Obtain ABO Certification within 18-months or three (3) testing periods from the date of hire, and maintain the certification

Preferred - American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification and / or National Contact Lens (NCLE) Certification
