PRIMARY FUNCTION :

The Assistant Regional Director, Incident Response and Law Enforcement Initiatives will lead the Midwest Region’s work with law enforcement and responding to incidents of antisemitism and hate (in northern IL, IN, IA, western KS, MN, NE, ND, SD, and WI).

The Assistant Regional Director will cultivate and sustain relationships with law enforcement agencies, associations, and leadership, serve as the Region’s primary point of contact in sharing intelligence and ADL reports with law enforcement, and oversee the delivery of ADL’s signature law enforcement education programs on extremism, antisemitism, and hate crimes.

The Assistant Regional Director will coordinate ADL’s response to hate incidents in the Midwest Region.

Responsibilities : Primary :

Primary :

Coordinate and marshal ADL resources to respond to acts of antisemitism and hate in the Midwest, including victim support, coordination with law enforcement, and the engagement of ADL colleagues and experts to address incidents in a timely manner.

Conduct initial investigation of complaints of discrimination, antisemitic incidents and other civil rights issues.

  • Serve as ADL’s primary point of contact for law enforcement agencies in the Midwest Region.
  • Build, cultivate, sustain and enhance ADL’s relationships with key law enforcement leaders and agencies in the Midwest Region, as well as local and state law enforcement organizations and associations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the number of law enforcement agencies in the Midwest sharing antisemitism and hate incident data with ADL.
  • Facilitate ADL-designed professional development programming, including education programs on extremism, antisemitism, and hate crimes.

Secondary :

  • Partner with the Central Division Director and Associate Director for Incident Response and Law Enforcement Initiatives to track and report incident trends and identify innovative opportunities to efficiently and effectively respond to incidents.
  • Manage and grow the Midwest Law Enforcement Advisory Council and find meaningful ways to engage law enforcement leaders and introduce them to ADL resources, experts and programs.
  • Represent ADL at law enforcement conferences and meetings in the region.
  • Deliver presentations and briefings about ADL’s resources and work with law enforcement.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the law enforcement profession and community institutions is a plus.
  • Ability to build relationships with new stakeholders, including law enforcement, community institutions, colleagues, and volunteer leaders.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment under pressure.
  • Flexibility in responding to changing priorities and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail. Strong presentation skills.

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience required.

Work Environment :

ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require up to 3 days in the office.

Compensation :

This position has a salary range of $57,000 to $67,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Chicago, IL.

Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
