Job Summary
Assist the Enrichment Team to engage residents with an enriched lifestyle by promoting and providing physical fitness and wellness programming and activities.
Create an encouraging atmosphere by offering coaching, instruction, and motivation to achieve safe and enjoyable participation.
Essential functions of the job :
Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, skills, abilities, opinions.
Lead group fitness and recreational classes and programs with clear and encouraging communication.
Conduct fitness orientations, assessments, exercise prescriptions per departmental policies and procedures.
Accurately explain how to use equipment and perform various exercises to safely execute usage.
Accurately record key information such as attendance records, participant interest, feedback, and other pertinent information.
Communicate resident concerns in a timely manner to the chain of command.
Assist in planning and promoting events and programs as directed.
Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols, and departmental policies and procedures at all times.
Monitor supplies and equipment to ensure adequate availability, cleanliness, and organization.
Inspect and monitor equipment to ensure it is in proper and safe working order.
Keep work areas (front and heart of the house) clean, stocked and organized.
Effectively use resources and stives for efficiency.
Abide by department and company policies and procedures, including training and requirements.
Contribute toward achieving departmental goals and objectives.
Must have a flexible schedule to be able to work some weekends and evening activities.
Support Enrichment programs, events, and activities as needed.
Professionally represent the Enrichment Department when working with other departments, Residents, guests, and visitors.
Qualifications
Skills and aptitude required :
Understand or have willingness to learn the developmental needs of seniors.
Exhibit the ability to plan and execute activities that acknowledge the physical, social and emotional needs of seniors.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Demonstrate a positive, encouraging, and motivating attitude.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Project positive professional image.
Motivate and encourage Residents to achieve fitness and wellness goals.
Must demonstrate the Lenbrook Way service standards and RITE values.
Must possess a high degree of human relations skills, ability to facilitate class interaction and socialization, and should be considered a team player by Residents, co-workers, and management staff.
Experience with MS office suite.
Education and experience required :
Knowledgeable about fitness and wellness, specifically for the senior population.
Current exercise certification from a national organization recognized by, ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or NETA.
Must possess current CPR / AED certification and renew it biannually prior to date of expiration.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of college preferred.
MS Office Suite Skills Preferred.
Schedule : 10am-3 : 30pm- Must be available every other Saturday.
