Role Overview :
Responsible to work on engines, replace malfunctioning parts, diagnose hydraulic issues and other various heavy equipment or truck issues.
Will also learn how to order parts, create maintenance records, and complete other important tasks.
DUTIES AND / OR RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
Perform repairs on equipment as needed.
2.Safely and properly perform routine maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on heavy equipment and trucks.
3.Dismantles equipment such as grease guns, air lines and lubricating pumps. Examines parts for breaks, wear, and dirt. Replaces defective parts and cleans and reassembles equipment.
4.Perform tire checks and tire replacement.
5.Recognition of surroundings including equipment and traffic awareness.
6.Ability to perform consistently while doing repetitious work.
7.Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people in all situations.
8. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous / respectful of others
9.Help troubleshoot and problem solve situations / problems on equipment issues / repair. Monitor and discuss problems with other mechanics / management.
10.Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
11.Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications : 1.High School or GED plus higher trade or technical school experience.
2.Mechanical interest required.
3.Driver’s License required, ability to obtain a Class A CDL, preferred. Training for CDL provided by Knife River through the Entry Level Driver Trainee Program (ELDT).
