Classification Summary
The City of Kennewick Parks and Recreation Department employs Recreation Attendants who will attend to rentals at various facilities in the City, monitor reserved picnic shelters, and check on programs at fields or parks.
Recreation Attendants may work at multiple locations and will provide excellent customer service, enforce policies, and follow set guidelines.
A successful candidate will represent the City of Kennewick in a positive and professional manner.
Program Attendants will usually be scheduled between 10-70 hours per month based on business needs, typically on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Schedules will be provided in advance but will be subject to change. Recreation Attendants must maintain open communication with Parks and Recreation staff at all times.

The following list reflects the essential job duties and responsibilities of this classification, but should not be considered all-inclusive.
The incumbent will be expected to perform other related duties as assigned.
- Open and secure facilities during a rental, recreation programs or league.
- Set-up and takedown of equipment.
- Turn on and off lights at city fields.
- Check in on youth and adult league games.
- Provide excellent customer service to the community and patrons.
- Enforce a variety of policies and procedures for a successful and safe program or game.
- Monitor and perform general custodial duties.
- Respond to emergency and safety situations, inform supervisor or coordinator, and submit documentation. Call 911 for assistance when necessary.
- Work cohesively with other City staff, part-time staff, and volunteers.
- Communicate procedural challenges, repair, or maintenance needs and operation outcomes to Supervisor / Coordinator.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times consistent with the City's uniform standards and dress code policy.
- Inventory of uniforms and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Employment Standards
Work experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and, abilities to perform duties listed above.
- Must be assertive and dependable.
- Must maintain regular attendance.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, and previous customer service experience is highly desirable.
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must pass a criminal background investigation.
- Must maintain a level of mental and physical fitness required to perform the essential functions of this classification.
- Experience in the sport or program you are working in.
Supplemental Requirements
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.

Benefits : This position is not subject to health or retirement benefits. But, this position is eligible for Washington State Paid Sick Leave to accrue 1 hour for every 40 hours worked.
