Position Summary Information
Summary Under direction of the Director of Business Applications, the Business Support Analyst assists and coordinates with the division of Finance and Administration, and the departments within, in the use of applications, primarily focused on the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Student Information System (SIS), reporting tools and related software.
Works closely with departments to ensure the stability and usability of business applications to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the University in serving students, faculty, and staff through the following duties : Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.
1. Facilitate the use of the University’s various technology resources for the assigned business areas.
2. Provide technical support to the assigned business areas including report writing, data analysis, testing, training, and implementation support with specific emphasis in the non-student related Finance and Administration areas.
3. Provide user support and training.
4. Track, resolve, and document solutions to customer requests.
5. Troubleshoot, analyze, test, and recommend solution opportunities for reported issues related to the business applications.
6. Responsible for report-writing via university-licensed tools.
7. Analyze and evaluate internal processes and identifying opportunities for improving operational efficiencies and / or overall productivity of the University.
8. Work with the business unit to gather and document user requirements.
9. Assist in creating and / or updating operational procedures and test plans / instructions, as well as executing test plans.
10. Provide coordination and communication with business units and ITS to ensure alignment and compliance with the University’s goals and objectives.

- Knowledge of business systems, applications, and processes.
- Working knowledge of computer architecture, software, and support techniques.
- General understanding of enterprise applications, such as Ellucian Banner
- Knowledge and skills with data tools, reporting applications and data storage, such as Cognos, Argos, SQL, relational databases, and operational data stores / data warehouses.
- Skill in using personal computers and related software applications, especially Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Familiarity with tools to create and modify diagrams and work / data flows is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and professionally with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with emphasis on business communications and technical writing.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Skilled at performing tasks on multiple projects.
- Experience working within the guidelines of best practices for system development and project management.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.

- Education and / or Experience Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science, a technology related degree;
or four years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
