As the Senior Manager of Facilities Maintenance, you will direct, plan, organize, and control the Agency's Facilities Maintenance Division.

You will consult and coordinate with the Chief Operating Officer on executing strategy to consistently achieve division and agency goals and provide excellent customer service.

You will direct strategic initiatives related to maintaining agency buildings, grounds, and facilities in a consistently high state of good repair for customers and employees.

You will create division policies and procedures; maintain positive employee and union relations; manage vendors, contractors, and service providers;

and implement performance standards.

Essential Duties

Direct, plan, organize, and evaluate the agency's Facility Maintenance strategy ensuring alignment with both short and long-term agency goals and initiatives.

Establish and implement division policies, processes, and performance standards while evaluating and mediating performance issues.

Employ the necessary solutions to achieve division operational excellence.

Conduct service quality and condition assessments to maintain agency buildings, grounds, and facilities in a state of good repair in support of customers and employees.

Administer documentation standards and processes to support a reliable review process and ensure facility maintenance quality.

Supervise management-level staff. Prioritize and assign work. Conduct performance evaluations. Make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

Ensure staff is trained and offer professional development opportunities. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in all staff programs and activities.

Advise the Executive Leadership Team on Facilities Maintenance matters, recommending courses of action affecting maintenance of buildings, grounds, and facilities in a state of good repair.

Manage and facilitate ongoing agency-wide communication and coordination to ensure facilities meet the needs of customers and employees.

Provide informational presentations to Senior Management, Executive Staff, and Board members.

  • Direct the development of the division's budget and business plan. Oversee allocation and expenditure of budgeted funds.
  • Stay up to date on modern facilities maintenance methodologies and strategies, transportation industry practices, and agency operations.

Embrace continuous learning and process improvement.

Serve as a key adviser to the Chief Operating Officer, CEO, Executive Team, and Board on Facilities Maintenance strategies.

Develop and recommend policies and standards to implement agency goals.

  • Develop agency requirements, evaluations and purchases of facility related services and equipment. Coordinate with other departments regarding those needs for services and equipment.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven years of experience in facility, project, and / or construction management
  • Five years of general supervisory and management experience in a facilities environment
  • A Bachelor's degree in facility, project, construction and / or business management or a related field may be substituted for three years of the non-supervisory experience requirement.

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

Transit industry experience

Working Conditions

Hybrid telework is available, typically 2 days on site, 3 days remote (if requested). Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology.

You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments.

You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.

Salary will be negotiated based on skills and experience.

Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life and disability insurance. Employees participate in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and have the option to enroll in the agency's deferred compensation plan.

In addition to WA Paid Sick Leave, employees in this position, accrue 24 days of Paid Time off (192 hours) in their first year and ten (10) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
