Apply today and become part of our dedicated! This position is located at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and supports the work of the Bettis Program Testing team.

Role and Responsibility Info : Setup and operate various machine tools to perform specialty machining operations on radioactive and non-radioactive materials within the capacities of the equipment in order to produce intricate as well as standard components which meet drawing specification.

Set up and operate equipment such as, but not limited to CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) milling / lathe work, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), other milling machines, lathes, grinders, and jig bore.

Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and written specifications to comply with and perform operations as designated and have the capacity to make all Demensional determinations as necessary.

Make layouts on work involving interrelated dimensions, with layouts occurring in more than one surface of the workplace.

Be capable to check work using all measuring and checking instruments such as comparators, shadow graphs, micrometers, limit gauges and vernier measuring instruments.

  • Make all calculations required by work documents including arithmetic, geometry and trigonometry.Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
  • or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience;

or Journeyman's papers in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Proof of qualification for a certified machinist is required.
