Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive : A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Transfer : Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18;

Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25, within the Chief Technology Office, Business Application Services, Labor, Workforce and Education Portfolio, the incumbent will participate in the design, development, testing, and implementation of ColdFusion and .
NET applications. This position supports Civil Service Examination applications such as the Eligible List Management System, Reduction-in-Force, Selective Certification, and others.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to :
- Perform application development that utilizes programming languages and skills / technologies such as , MVC, XML, ColdFusion, SQL as well as content management systems.
- Analyze and document existing systems and processes.
- Create functional specs based on business requirements.
- Evaluate requirements of information systems and design applications by applying analysis and design techniques.
- Develop detailed unit test and system test plans to ascertain if the new system adheres to the business rules.
- Remediate any bugs or problems that occur.
