POSITION VISION : Claremont Graduate University is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and student-centered person to support operational tasks required within the Division of Politics and Economics (DPE) housed within the School of Social Science, Policy & Evaluation, including its affiliated Institutes.
Experience with CGU's organizational structures, policies, and procedures of the University is required, including technical specialties as outlined below.
This position will report to the Associate Director of SSSPE and support the Associate Director in operational tasks required to administer academic programs within DPE.
CORE FUNCTIONS : Facilitates MA and PhD student success through program from orientation to Doctoral Studies phase; (degree changes to add fields;
tracking and submitting forms for research tools and qualifying exams) Co-Facilitates Student Review Meetings, including follow-up letters to students Assists Director with Program Bulletin updates Assists Director with Student Handbook updates Assists Director in coordinating events that are faculty driven Supervises academic support student workers as needed Co-Coordinates room management for events and other faculty needs Assists Director with maintaining website and Sharepoint Pages Ensures accurate information is tracked in people soft (academic advisor, research advisor, portfolio milestones, etc.
Manages TA hiring Supports SSSPE Finance team as needed Coordinate with recruiters for internal apps (going from MA to PhD) Facilitates Oral Qualifying Exams in DBOS Coordinates student dissertation defenses with students and faculty (this includes keep track and submitting appropriate forms) Facilitates Qualifying Exams by administering, proctoring, and disseminating results with students.
