Job Title : Field Welder
Location : Salt Lake City, Utah
Responsibilities :
Perform welding and fabrication tasks on foundation drilling equipment, including but not limited to drill rigs, augers, and casing systems.
- Inspect welding workpieces for defects and ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.
- Use torch cutting equipment to cut and shape metal as required.
- Operate welding equipment and tools, including arc welders, MIG welders, TIG welders, and plasma cutters.
- Fabricate metal structures by welding, cutting, arc gouging, with an understanding of various measuring tools.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on welding equipment and tools.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other field personnel to ensure welding tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to execute welding tasks.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Document welding activities and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Travel to various job sites as required, often involving extended periods away from the home location.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding or fabrication preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in welding and fabrication, preferably in the foundation drilling or heavy equipment industry.
- Familiar with all four most popular welding types : shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW / MIG), flux cored arc welding (FCAW), and gas tungsten arc gas welding (GTAW / TIG).
- Strong understanding of welding standards and codes, such as AWS (American Welding Society) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Weld different types of metals into place in accordance with given blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in challenging conditions, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently to different job sites.
