Your Role
As a hands-on Mechanical Engineer, you will be leading the development of Motorcycle, Truck, SXS, and UTV exhaust systems.
You will be a key contributor with responsibility for the design, development, validation, and launching into serial production innovative solutions in multiple transportation markets.
Your success will be guided using our proven stage-gate Product Development Process. Daily activities will include exhaust component and assembly design, engineering analysis, component and vehicle testing, supplier development, and project management.
Note : On-Site Salary Range : 75K-90K DOE
Responsibilities
- Exhaust system component and assembly design and engineering
- Perform FEA and / or engineering calculations for function, strength, durability
- Apply DFM (Design For Manufacturing / Assembly) concepts
- Conduct research and create design proposals for projects
- Maintain state of the art knowledge for exhaust products in applicable markets
- Produce final drawings, specifications and instructions
- Application of GD+T standards and statistical tolerance analysis
- Project management utilizing a structured stage-gate process
- ECN change management for continuous improvement projects
- Prepare and present launch and gate reports for management
- Coordinate with sales and marketing on initiatives for new products
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Education / Mandatory
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Required Qualifications :
- Minimum 3+ years of mechanical design experience
- 3D modeling, parametric design and 2D drawings (preferably Solidworks)
- Development of Engineering calculations and FEA to predict product performance / durability
- Detailed knowledge of automotive / motorsports & their chassis components
- Hands on motorcycle / automotive experience with tools and equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
- Proficient with MS Excel and Word
- Strong oral and written skills with a high level of organization
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Critical thinking / Problem-solving / Analytical thinking
- Applying ASME Y14.5-1994 GD&T (and / or ISO GPS) to designs
- Valid driver’s license, clean record with appropriate endorsements
Desirable Qualifications :
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Product launch experience
- Experience in coating & plating technologies (e-coat, powder coat, chrome, anodize)
- Experience in exhaust manufacturing processes (tube bending, CNC machining, Welding, etc)
- 4+ years of vendor management / joint development experience
- 4+ years of experience in the powersports industry
- Understanding and working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma concepts
