ROLE SUMMARY
Assists lead teacher in implementing activities that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children.
Performs cleaning and sanitizing duties as needed.
Age Group : This position will cover all ages from infant to Pre-K.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates and maintains a healthy, safe and positive environment for children. Ensures children are well supervised at all times.
- Assists children with diapering, handwashing, feeding, clean-up and any other needs they may have.
- Understands and complies with Department of Child, Youth, and Family standards. Serves snacks and lunch according to USDA guidelines.
- Maintains confidentiality of information and files of children and families.
- Responds productively to interruptions and changing conditions.
- Possesses advanced knowledge of children’s physical, social / emotional, and intellectual competencies for ages one month to six years.
- Maintains and promotes teamwork with all staff.
- Participates in ongoing training and regular staff meetings
- Maintains an appropriate level of responsibility for updating job-related knowledge and skills level including applicable Joint Commission and Department of Child, Youth and Family Services requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education : High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Washington State Early Childhood Education (ECE) Initial Certificate required by 2026.
Experience : Previous experience working with children required.
Licenses / Certificates / Registration : CPR / First Aid certification required. Washington State (DOH) Food Handler’s card required.
Completion of 30-Hour STARS Basic courses within 6 months of hire. Required to complete a TB Test every year as well as BBP / HIV training.
Able to successfully pass a Washington State Childcare Licensing background check.
