Summary / Primary Purpose : To protect, guide, stimulate, and help the children in the After-School program. To provide wholesome, character-building programming & supervision to school-age children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Lead and coordinate all after-school / summer programming including recreation, snacks, crafts, etc.
• Prepare materials and equipment required for after-school programming.
• Oversee youth participating in the after-school program.
• Build positive relationships with youth, their families, and community stakeholders / referral sources
• Consistently promote morale, productivity, and professionalism.
• Adhere and enforce all Corps policies.
• Ensure activities are documented including daily activities, reports, etc
• Communicate accidents, sicknesses, and incidents to the Director / Corps Officer in a timely manner.
• Willing to support and / or lead faith-based kids’ activities and programming.
• Ensure compliance with The Salvation Army’s Safe from Harm.
• End of the day cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing as needed.
• Driving is an essential role of the position.
• All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities : N / A

Education and / or Experience : Must have 1 (one) year of experience working with school-age children. Fluent in Spanish is preferred, but not a requirement.

Qualifications : The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and / or ability required for this position.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• The ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, assist in building a relationship with the children and their parent / guardian.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications : Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : CPR and First Aid Certification and must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers. This position will require the ability to lift and / or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions : The work environment will be moderate to loud at times.

Must be able to frequently be in the sun and / or outside in varying weather conditions.
