We are in search of a Software Engineer II- Kronos to join our team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity in the healthcare sector.
As a Software Engineer, you will be a key part of our team, responsible for developing and maintaining embedded Linux platforms for medical monitors.
You will work closely with other teams and external partners, contributing to the life cycle of the BSP release process.
As a Sr. Embedded Linux / Yocto BSP Engineer, your work contributes directly to achieving this mission and making a significant impact on others.

Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with internal / external teams and partners to track and incorporate Yocto Project updates.
- Understand and generate custom Linux distributions using shared repositories.
- Experience with adding / patching / debugging device drivers, kernel modifications, and boot loaders.
- Customize the SW update open-source package for software update methodologies.
- Configure the Linux kernel for use in safety-critical systems
- Mentor junior level engineers.
- Assist product teams in customizing package configurations.
- Technical leadership in cross-functional discussions ensuring well-formed solutions.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10+ years experience in the Linux kernel and OE-Core ecosystem.
- Debugging skills for Linux operating system kernel modules and internal structures.
- Strong understanding of Yocto / OE-Core and cross-compiler toolchains.
- Knowledge of network protocols and hardware architectures.
- Experience with DRM and integration of specialized SOC vendor drivers.
- Significant experience with scripting languages, Python and Shell.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with NXP i.mx series 8 & 9 processors & secure boot and SELinux systems.
- Experience in medical device sector & knowledge of IEC 62304.
- Familiarity with cloud-based tools for CI / CD build pipelines.
- Agile practices and ability to work with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
