Assistant or Associate Director of Admissions

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hasan opening in the Enrollment Management Department for an Assistant orAssociate Director of Admissions.

Theideal candidate will be committed to enriching the lives of students andbuilding a strong community of scholars on campus.

The Assistant or AssociateDirector of Admissions will evaluate credentials submitted by applicants todetermine whether a student exhibits potential for success at Rose-HulmanInstitute of Technology and routinely make admissions decisions.

Theseselections formulate the basis for the incoming first-year class every year andare made in light of furthering the academic standards and quality of the institute.

Additionally, the position will create and implement a marketing plan thatassists the institute in successfully achieving its educational mission and beresponsible for the implementation of designated efforts.

The position will performpublic relations services by representing Rose-Hulman Institute of Technologyat high schools, college night programs, conferences and other events asrequired;

serve as guest speaker, discussing a variety of higher educationtopics including but not limited to the college search process, financial aidissues, scholarship services, etc.

to a variety of constituents, including butnot limited to professional organizations, students, and parents.

  • The Assistant or AssociateDirector of Admissions will serve the institute as the primary point ofcontact, promoting and representing the interests of both Rose-Hulman Instituteof Technology and its customers by providing counsel for prospective studentsand parents regarding academic programs of study, program requirements andscholarship programs;
  • employ personalized communication techniques when messagingwith prospective students, parents and other constituents through written andelectronic means;

conduct inquiries into concerns on behalf of Rose-HulmanInstitute of Technology and / or prospective students, parents, and otherconstituents who may encounter situations during their experience with the instituteand determine the resolutions of such issues.

Significant matters may include,but are not limited to the following : financial aid issues, academic programissues, admission credentials, and residence life / housing.

  • The Assistant orAssociate Director of Admissions will participate in short range departmentalplanning by offering recommendations for functions and goals;
  • anticipate andinvestigate competitive products and services and make recommendations fordistinguishing Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from the competitivemarketplace;
  • participate in development of institute publications, studenthandbooks, and etc., outlining academic services and institute policies;
  • participatein development and implementation of campus recruitment programs; make largeand small group presentations to prospective students regarding programs;

facilitateprospective student campus visits and interviews; and, assist with theplanning, training, and managing of student employees.

  • In addition, the AssociateDirector will exercise professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, andrecommending applicants for admission using established guidelines and consultwith the Dean of Admission when reviewing more complex applications;
  • leadmarketing and recruitment initiatives meant to enhance efforts in enrollingRose-Hulman’s first-year class; be responsible for one or several areas ofstudent admissions;
  • interface regularly with the Dean of Admissions on allmatters of identified importance; provide substantive information on admissionsrequirements, school programs and curricula, financial aid, housing, andstudent career / employment opportunities;
  • assist the Dean of Admissions inplanning the recruitment policies and strategies for all the programs offeredby the college or university;

and may lead the planning, training, and managingof student employees.

Qualified candidates as the AssistantDirector will have a bachelor’s degree and two to three years of collegeadmissions experience.

  • Must have knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and wordprocessing (Microsoft Office) software; strong analytical and project / process managementskills, excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • theability to speak and interact effectively with alumni, students, faculty, staffand prospective students and their families from many cultural and socio-economicbackgrounds;

ability to read and interpret documents such as school transcriptsand procedures manuals; and able to write routinereports and correspondence.

Preferred candidates asthe Assistant Director will have a master’s degree; three years of collegeadmissions experience in a private institution;

experience with various types of social media; knowledge of engineering is desired.

Qualified candidates as the AssociateDirector will have a bachelor's degree and four to five years of collegeadmissions experience.

  • Must have strong analytical and project / processmanagement skills; knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing(Microsoft Office) software;
  • excellent oral, verbal, and interpersonalcommunication skills; ability to speak and interact effectively with alumni,students, faculty, staff, and prospective students and their families from manycultural and socio-economic backgrounds;
  • able to read and interpret documentssuch as school transcripts and procedures manuals and the have ability to writeroutine reports and correspondence;

and able to travel which may includeevenings and weekends.

Preferred candidates as the AssociateDirector will a master’s degree; five years of college admissions experience ina private institution;

experience with various typesof social media; knowledge of engineering is desired.
