Description The Office of Inspector General is the investigative arm of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Weconduct numerous types of investigations which requires critical thinking and research into various Cabinetpolicies & procedures as well as State and Federal laws.
Our most vital role is to safeguard the assets of theCabinet. We do this by both investigating and preventing against waste, fraud, and abuse.
Our investigationsprotect and preserve important Cabinet programs such as SNAP and Medicaid as well many others that our mostvulnerable citizens depend on every day.
Our office is also responsible for employee and Cabinet contractorinvestigations to maintain the integrity of the Cabinet.
The OIG Investigator II position performs professional level investigations regarding both Medicaid fraudinvestigations and recipient fraud investigations.
This position conducts investigations of fraud, waste orabuse and prepares investigative reports containing investigative findings.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Review and analyze pertinent case records and administrative records.
- Conduct interviews.
- Establish contacts and perform surveillance.
- Prepares investigative reports containing investigative findings, compiles and attaches documentation and evidence to substantiate the allegations and coordinates with appropriate agencies.
- Reviews and analyzes evidence to determine if the allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse, and / or misconduct is substantiated.
- Provide testimony as appropriate for judicial, administrative and / or personnel hearings.
- Assists with the Medicaid & Welfare Fraud Hotline as needed.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : Must have two years of experience in the field of investigation, social work, public assistance, healthcare, or program eligibility.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Additional investigative, social work, public assistance, healthcare, or program eligibility experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.

Working Conditions Typical working conditions include both extensive field work in a variety of settings and normal office work.
Travel throughout the state may be required to conduct interviews, perform surveillance activities and to obtain information and evidence.
