Kennel Assistant to join our team!
Pay Details : $14 - $15 / hr depending on experience
What We Are Looking For : Sugar Hill Animal Hospital is looking for Pet Care Technician that are self-motivated, upbeat and have a passion for animals.
Client interaction is a big part of our job as well. This job is labor intensive. You will be on your feet and outside in the elements 10+ hours a day.

Job Summary : The Kennel Assistant provides daily care, feeding and exercise of boarding and hospitalized animals. The Kennel Assistant also pays close attention to animals’ general health signs such as signs of stress and changes in eating or elimination habits, promptly notifying technicians and veterinarians when a pet needs medical attention.
The Kennel Assistant interacts with clients in person and by phone and e-mail. Proper record documentation and accurate completion of boarding forms and cage cards is critical.
The Kennel Assistant must pay close attention to details, understand, and follow proper feeding and sanitation procedures and monitor boarding and hospitalized pets.
Responsibilities
How you'll make an impact :
The purpose of this position is to provide care and the basic needs of animals that are being boarded, attending doggie daycare, getting bathed or that are patients of Sugar Hill Animal Hospital.
Duties will include but are not limited to :
o To provide daily care, feeding and exercise of boarding, daycare and hospitalized pets
o To thoroughly clean and disinfect the ward areas of the hospital as often as is necessary
to ensure no cages or runs are soiled and odors are not apparent).
o Patrol hospital grounds daily, picking up any trash and stool material
o Maintain the facility grounds and ward areas
o A Pet Care Technician also interacts with clients so they must be friendly and personable.
o To bathe and provide Tender Loving Care to boarded, daycare and hospitalized animals.
o Applicants should be confident while handling and restraining animals while using appropriate procedures and possess the ability to walk animals
o Must be able to lift and control 50+lbs animals
In addition, regular attendance, timeliness, and strong communication are essential. This is for a part time and / or full time position.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Confidence around animals and pets.
- Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques.
- Knowledge of infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread.
- Must have reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and ability to speak the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- Must be in the process of obtaining or have attained a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
