Position Purpose

The Development Coordinator is accountable for achieving fundraising goals identified within the budget and defined strategic objectives.

The Development Coordinator will demonstrate a balanced approach in fund development leadership using special events, direct donor appeals, grant writing, and foundation requests.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff, the Development Coordinator will manage a stewardship program to recognize individuals, businesses, and foundations that support our mission.

Key Responsibilities :

In cooperation with the Executive Director and Fundraising Committee, draft, implement, and monitor progress of the fund development strategic plan.

Monitor budget to actual performance and report fundraising results to the Board on a quarterly basis.

  • Serve as primary liaison to the Board's Fundraising Committee.
  • Provide excellent donor stewardship through various and regular communication and relationship building efforts - including in-person presentations throughout the state as well as virtual communications.
  • Ensure donor relationship management platform is maintained with accurate and timely implementation of policy and procedure for all data entry.
  • Maintain current grant relationships and research additional grant opportunities in the public and private sectors; responsible for the grant content and deadlines;

drawing content from the needs of the organization.

  • Build robust annual and corporate giving programs as well as event sponsorship, build new relationships, maintain established relationships.
  • Provide leadership and training to staff supporting our fundraising activities. Develop learning / coaching opportunities for team members to become educated and informed of fund development progress toward goals as well as general fundraising theory, practice and trends.
  • Responsible for all aspects of DonorPerfect CRM including processing donations accurately and promptly, generating all donor acknowledgement letters, and generating reports and answering queries from board and staff members.
  • Coordinate with accounting department to ensure that donations are recorded accurately in QuickBooks. Reconcile QuickBooks with DonorPerfect.
  • Respond to incoming donor requests for information, changes in payments or amounts, or related matters; contact donors when their information needs updating.
  • Work with the Volunteer Team Lead acting as accounts payable for KidSight's Fee for Service screenings. Tasks will include recording payments, sending invoices and reminders as necessary, and sending acknowledgements.

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been acquired is required.
  • Continual training and certification as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Demonstrated passion for KidSight's mission.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and writing skills.
  • Strong relationship builder who is invested in collaboration with outside stakeholders, staff, volunteers, and board members.
  • Comfort with and ability to become familiar with a variety of software, operating systems, database, and web-based applications.

KidSight uses DonorPerfect, Office 365, Trello, QuickBooks, WordPress, and has a proprietary database.)

  • Must be able to handle information in a confidential, objective, professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks and make clear, timely decisions that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by the organization.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with community service organizations, and Lions Clubs specifically, is a plus.
  • Experience in advocacy is a plus.

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to travel throughout the service region as required.
  • Long periods of sitting and / or standing may be required.
  • Frequent periods of intense concentration, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle mental and physical strain involved in use of printed materials, prolonged use of computer screens and extensive phone usage.
  • Moderate manual dexterity for basic keyboarding.
  • Ability to lift and move more than 30 pounds.

Environmental Demands :

Normal office environment combined with normal outdoor exposures.
