Due to the company's growth, we are hiring a downstream process purification engineer with the responsibility to design experiments for process optimization and development with TFF, centrifuge, chromatography steps
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on experimental planning, process development, troubleshooting, and optimization regarding downstream clarification and purification efforts at pilot scale.
- Actively lead, execute or contribute to a range of clients fermentation and downstream processes at pilot scale involving unit operations like high-pressure homogenization, continuous centrifugation, depth filtration, ceramic membrane filtration (CMF), spiral wound micro- and ultrafiltration (TFF), and chromatography.
- material derived from bacteria, yeast, and filamentous fungi fermentations and scaling from bench to pilot scale.
- Preparation, setup, operation and maintenance of laboratory and pilot equipment and processes.
- Create and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Generate and analyze data, prepare technical reports and presentations for communication of results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in the bioprocessing field, and apply this knowledge to enhance processes and drive innovation.
- Work collaboratively and safely with cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects. Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
Expected Skills and proficiencies.
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology or related field with at least 2-3 years of industry experience at pilot scale in process development and scaling.
- Proficiency in hands-on execution of pilot scale bioprocess unit operations like mechanical cell lysis, continuous centrifugation, microfiltration, tangential flow filtration and drying.
- Proven and excellent problem-solving and planning skills and ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and to find robust and innovative solutions for process challenges.
- Experience in manufacturing science and technology, authoring of SOPs and technical transfer documents.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Experience working with materials derived from bacterial, yeast and fungal cultures.
