Summary

Ascension Childcare, Inc is seeking an Executive Director to lead and compliment our experienced, diverse, and dedicated teaching team and staff.

We are an established non-profit, NAEYC accredited, 5 STAR, Seed Sew certified early education program in Shelburne, offering early care and education for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

We implement an emergent curriculum, where teachers use observation and assessment to offer a variety of child-led, play-based experiences for all children in our program.

Duties

The Executive Director oversees all day to day operations, supervises all staff, and maintains all records. In collaboration with the Assistant Director, the E.

D. oversees curriculum development, professional development for staff, and classroom environments.The safety and care of all individuals within the program are the E.

D.’s top priority. The E.D. maintains positive relations with families, in maintaining a program that values all individuals.

Clear, consistent communication is a must.

The Executive Director maintains and upholds local, state, and national partnerships. Some of these partnerships are tied to various funding streams, program improvements, or community connections.

In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director maintains and manages all financials, creates and maintains a strategic plan for growth and development, updates and implements program policies and procedures as needed.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• Qualify as a teacher, as outlined by the CBCCPP Regulations
• Shall have at least twenty four (24) months of experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger
• Shall have completed either : A Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program
• Director Step Two (2) Certificate or Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool
• Program Director Credential, Step Three (3); or successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in curriculum, and an additional nine (9) college credits in program management, staff supervision, administration, or human resource management.
• The program director shall complete within one (1) year of employment start date a three (3) college credit course in managing an early care and education program that includes budgeting and financial management (approved by the Division)
• Demonstrate leadership experience
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated
• A current understanding or willingness to learn the philosophical and operational tenets of play-based education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Must be able to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and move about the space safely.
• Must be available for employment between the hours of 7 : 30-5 : 30, M-F.

• A Master’s Degree in leadership, non-profit management, or Early Childhood Education Administration
