Job Location : Ideally Hybrid in Rochester NY, or Orange CT.

A leading energy and utility company focused on delivering clean energy solutions, is seeking a Hybrid Principal UX Designer to join their team.

They've been around for over 100 years and currently serve over 2.5 million customers in half of the states here in the US.

They have 5,000+ employees - almost 50 software developers and 4 designers including the Head of Design. They're headquartered in Orange, Connecticut (In between New Haven and Bridgeport), but have several offices in Rochester (NY), Binghamton (NY), Boston, Berkshire (Mass), and Portland, Maine, among others.

They ideally would like somebody based near one of those locations, preferably Rochester NY or Orange CT.

This person will be responsible for driving decision-making, running workshops, and guiding various design projects, including enhancing the company’s design systems and improving accessibility features.

The ideal candidate should be proficient in Figma, have substantial experience with design systems, and be capable of both strategic thinking and hands-on design work.

The team consists of 4 other designers. They have 8 companies under them that all do energy solutions, all with their own stakeholders, and it seems like they'll be revamping a few of their websites, optimizing payment flows, revamping the design system, and more.

It seems like they're moving towards 3 to 5 days a week in office, Rochester or Orange CT preferred, but it seems to be at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Requirements :

• At least 5+ years of relevant Product or UX Design experience
• Experience rebuilding or revamping Design Systems, payment flows, and / or data visualization
• Experience designing new features from inception to launch (end to end)
• Proficiency in Figma
• Proven experience driving decision-making and stakeholder conversations

Responsibilities :

• Collaborating with Senior and Junior designers.
• Leading and completing product design activities with the product development team
• Ensuring all the design work is aligned to the design team
• Giving constructive feedback to other UX Designers on the team
• Presenting work to our leadership team

The Offer

Salary and Benefits : The base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $150,000, depending on experience.
