Position : Estimator for Heavy Civil Infrastructure Projects
Location : Charlotte, North Carolina
George Thomas is working in partnership with a national contractor who are looking for an Estimator to join their Heavy Civil team to further bolster their presence throughout North Carolina.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the heavy civil sector as well as 5+ years Estimation Experience.
Requirements :
- 4-year engineering degree, construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and / or related experience.
- General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing required.
- Computer Skills to include HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, Excel, Outlook, Word, Primavera P6.
- Knowledgeable in available construction equipment and able to utilize resources to maintain a database of equipment rental rates.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review and understand project bid documents including plans, specifications, all related addenda and other relative correspondence as it relates to the area of your assigned estimate.
- Attend Pre-Bid meetings as required to gather all pertinent information related to a project, including notes and photos.
- Maintain a Vendor / Subcontractor database with the firms that we engage with for all scopes.
- Provide the bid sponsor / estimate lead with bid day support including your best estimate.
- On projects that we expect award, provide all estimate information to the estimating coordinator in preparation for a hand-off meeting.
- Visit ongoing projects to see the construction and relate that experience to future estimates.
