Responsibilities
- Makes assignments, evaluates work performance, develops performance standards, gives advice or instruction on work and administrative matters, and identifies developmental and training needs of employees.
- Responsible for programming and annual budgeting submissions and ensures program accomplishments are within budget allocations.
- Serves as a back-up to the District Manager and Associate District Manager on resource issues and maintains working knowledge of ongoing projects, personnel issues, and all other issues at the District Office level.
- Provides input to the preparation, implementation, and conformance of land use plans, interdisciplinary activity plans and ecosystem plans.
- Ensures all activities related to renewable and non-renewable resource programs are in compliance with BLM policies, regulations, applicable federal, state and local laws, and agreements.
- Makes resource management decisions on multi-resource programs; and develops solutions for issues posing special difficulty.
- Promotes internal and external communication and coordination, including local interest groups, individuals, users, the general public, State and local government, and other Federal personnel. Travel Required

- GS-13 : Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience : leading interdisciplinary teams in a natural resource program area responsible for maintaining the health, diversity, and sustainability of ecosystems;
- performing duties involving the management of renewable and non-renewable resource programs such as preparing land use plans, interdisciplinary activity plans, and ecosystem plans;
ensuring compliance with environmental policies and regulations; resolving complex natural resource related issues; and experience operating programs within budgetary limitations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
