Collins has an opening for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader in our Port Arthur, Texas office. The primary responsibility of this role is conducting bridge and ancillary structure safety inspections, serving as the Team Leader, and preparing calculations and reports.
This role offers the chance to work with industry leaders while using innovative technology. You will have the independence to solve technical problems and steward solutions through the delivery process.
The ideal candidate will be TXDOT precertified or have the ability to get qualified. They must have experience with bridge inspection as an Assistant Team Leader or Team Leader.
This position has the potential to be remote within the state of Texas with occasional requirements to work out of the Port Arthur office.
This position is a combination of design and field work with some travel required. This position will provide the opportunity for growth, where continuing development and participation in professional societies will be encouraged and supported.
SUMMARY
The Team Leader is responsible for leading inspection teams and assisting in the successful completion of inspection and design projects.
Position Description
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervises above water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection and evaluations.
- Reviews, analyzes and provides recommendations on field and / or design issues or adaptations.
- Assists in proposal preparation.
- Prepares and monitors project budgets.
- Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
- Responsible for moderately difficult engineering projects in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Performs moderately difficult engineering computations and estimates in designing engineering projects.
- Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
- Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff.
- Coaches field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
- Makes independent decisions within a general framework.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Is active in technical societies.
- Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
- Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree and / or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 4 to 5 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
- Must have passed the NHI / FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) required
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
- NICET certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license
