WHO WE ARE

Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.

Pilot House Philanthropy is a core service of Pilot House Associates, the family office of Amos and Barbara Hostetter, and serves as the vehicle for the family’s personal philanthropic activity.

In 2020, Pilot House Philanthropy launched the Global Initiative to fund innovative and bold solutions in international development, with a focus on supporting partners in rural Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Global Initiative provides primarily unrestricted, general operating funding to high-impact social ventures working at the intersection of :

  • Rural Livelihoods : Catalyze durable, diversified, and transformative income increases for people living in rural and coastal contexts.
  • Climate Adaptation & Ecosystem Protection : Help communities on the frontlines of climate change to adapt and grow more resilient to their emerging realities, and to protect critical resources / ecosystems they depend on for their wellbeing.
  • Gender Equity : Ensure that women & girls can thrive to their full potential, with specific emphasis on access to education for girl children and economic opportunity for women entering the workforce.

Utilizing a trust-based philanthropy approach, the Global Initiative funds grantees who are closest to the problems they are trying to solve.

Our guiding principles are to act with humility, center proximate leadership and local voices, take calculated risks, streamline the process for grantees, and ultimately support our partners to realize their visions for impact.
