Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities :
- Assists Exercise Physiologist II with all aspects of the Sports Acceleration program to include initial assessment, instruction designing and implementing sport specific training and team training, assessing strength, power, flexibility, speed, and quickness
- Operates all gym equipment and has computer knowledge
- Promotes the services of sports medicine through public speaking, health fairs, and sporting events
- Performs duties that commensurate with national certifications. Work is performed in areas where noise level requires raising your voice to be heard.
Risk of exposure to infection exists. Volumes of work and time constraints are significant
- Work involves interaction with outpatients. Hours can be irregular
- Responsibility involves the maintenance of patient safety / well-being. Other duties as assigned
Requirements :
- Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science required.
- ECG competent
- Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
The position posted is Part Time, 56 hours per payperiod (every 2 weeks).
Position : Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist
- ACLS certification required (ACLS Must be obtained within 90 days of hired if not already certified)
- ACSM Exercise Specialist certification preferred.
- Previous Cardiac Rehabilitation experience preferred.
This position is for phase I / inpatient, Phase 2, and Phase 3 / outpatient cardiac rehab. Primary responsibilities include assessing patients for ambulation, assisting with initial ambulation, follow up ambulation encounters, reviewing physical activity plan for transitional time prior to enrolling in phase 2 cardiac rehab, assisting with scheduling phase 2 cardiac rehab appointments, educating patients on importance of outpatient cardiac rehab.
- Provides inpatient (Phase I) and outpatient (Phase II and maintenance) cardiac rehabilitation services to a variety of cardiovascular conditions.
- May provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance, and endurance.
- Provides exercise prescription for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen, updates prescription according to patient response.
Implements concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.
- May develop and will update cardiac rehab participants’ Individual Treatment Plans.
- Competency in blood pressure, lipid, diabetes, smoking cessation, weight management and psychosocial assessment / plan development / reassessment and symptom evaluation.
- Competency in patient assessment skills such as blood pressure measurement, pulse taking, telemetry, pulse oximetry, blood glucose assessment, body composition.
- Recognizes contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
- Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
- Provides information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
- Arrange for initial outpatient cardiac rehab evaluation, recurring outpatient cardiac rehab sessions and discharge from the program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge and / or ability to learn of cardiac disease processes, cardiac interventions / surgery post-op care, and cardiac medications.

Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk.
- Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients.
- Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures.
