Job Details
Position : Controller
The overall responsibility of the Controller is to oversee the adequacy, soundness, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Company's financial structure and the sufficiency, accuracy, and completeness of all financial data generated by the accounting function.
Direct responsibilities include but are not limited to, the specific responsibilities listed below. Other duties may be assigned from time to time as determined necessary by senior management.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Plan, coordinate, and control the ongoing processes of the accounting department. Actively seek to identify and implement measures to streamline the accounting function
Oversee the monthly closing process and generation of accurate, timely financial reports and monitoring data
Analyze financial results and operational data and communicate financial performance to management
Oversee preparation and management of the annual budget and monthly variance reports
Oversee the cash management process of the Company and ensure the optimal management of the Company's financial resources
Oversee regulatory compliance. Also, coordinate the annual external audit and tax preparation and strive to minimize proposed adjusting entries and / or other issues
Maintain and monitor ongoing relationships with banks and other financial institutions
Hire, train, manage, and develop a highly competent accounting staff, providing guidance and feedback to the achievement of the overall corporate objectives
Review and approve all journal entries and reconciliations prepared by supervised accounting personnel
Prepare more complex or financially sensitive journal entries
Utilize organizational skills to ensure a non-chaotic working environment for the general accounting function
Perform special requests, participate on project teams, and carry out other tasks assigned by executive management
Provide management with timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities

Preferred Educational Requirements :
A four-year college degree in accounting or related field
Certified Public Accountant certification, preferred
Controller Experience, preferred
Skills :
Minimum of seven to ten years of accounting experience, preferably in property management
Yardi Experience
Proven leadership and management skills
Thorough understanding of general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management
Relevant knowledge of information systems
