Purpose of Position
The Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering invites applications for an Associate Teaching Professor, beginning in Fall 2024.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaching petroleum and energy engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, depending on qualifications.
- Participation in recruiting and outreach activities.
- Some administrative duties that may include management of the department's graduate program and grants
- Other duties as needed by the department.
Required Competencies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
- Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department and the College of Engineering and Mines
- Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery
- Ability to engage industry partners and connect course content to the practice of engineering in the field
Minimum Requirements
- A Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Five years of experience working in an engineering role in the energy industry.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
Ten years of experience working in an engineering role in the energy industry.
