UC San Diego Health, Moores Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated pharmacy technician to work in a position covering the ambulatory oncology pharmacies located in La Jolla and Encinitas.
This position will involve daily contacting of patients for their refill reminders, documenting the call in specialty software, processing oncology and non-oncology prescriptions through point of sale, setting up patients for their next refill reminder calls, and packaging the prescription for mail out or delivery.
- The position will also encompass all general tasks in the outpatient pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use according to established procedures;
- assist in the distribution of medications including delivery of medication to curbside and infusion chair; maintains skills applicable to all information systems within the pharmacy, record keeping, and billing functions;
maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to the following retail pharmacy technician and clerical duties-data entry, processing prescriptions, filling, inventory control and purchasing for both prescription and over-the-counter items, cashiering, greeting patients, filing of invoices and prescriptions, daily deposits and counting of tills.
Depending on experience and licensure of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharm Tech II or Pharm Tech III.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB)(for Pharm Tech 3).
Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum of two to five (2-5) years of retail experience is required.
Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Oncology Pharmacy Experience.
- Specialty Pharmacy Experience.
- Cash handling experience.
- Experience with Epic and / or Willow Ambulatory.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range : $62,640 - $77,862 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent : $30.00 - $37.29
