We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as a Assistant GIS Analyst to join our Data Strategy team.
Reporting to the Manager of GIS you will :
Perform data validations, create maps and reports, review and test GIS applications, and support the GIS Analyst and Sr.
GIS Analyst during projects.

- Research and validate information using multiple data sources and be able to deconflict and prioritize results
- Data validations on addresses and locations using internal and external sources
- Perform data management, spatial analysis, and statistical analys i s using program data within key projects.
- Extract, manipulate and utilize GIS data files and repositories
- Aid in the preparation of internal (senior leadership) and external (FCC) maps, tables, reports and metrics on data project portfolio.
- Design, develop, and execute spatial analysis and visualizations using GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS, and BI tools such as Tableau to present program insights, analysis and issues.
- Be able to breakdown GIS concepts and best practices for both technical and non-technical audiences in both written and oral formats.
- Review and test GIS applications, and communicate results clearly and efficiently
- Aid in the development of GIS policies and procedures
- Create SQL queries, and perform basic geoprocessing using R or Python scripting
- Ability to collaborate and work with a team, and across other departments and teams as needed.
- Experience performing research using multiple data sources, often with conflicting definitions or results. Must have experience deconflicting data sources and validating data.
- Knowledge of GIS tools such as QGIS or ArcGIS, and the ability to pick up new and unfamiliar technologies quickly.
- Experience presenting analysis, geographic concepts, and results in plain English for a non-technical audience.
- Experience with a scripting or query language such as SQL, R, or Python.
- Experience working with large datasets is a plus.
- Experience with web mapping capabilities such as CARTO or ArcGIS Online a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
About You
- Possess a Bachelor Degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography or a related technical field or a Bachelor Degree in any field with a certificate in GIS.
- Zero (0) to two (2) years of professionally related experience.
- Possess GIS experience or classwork specifically in spatial analysis, statistics, and working with database structures.
- Experience developing data products such as maps, reports, models, and tools.
