Principal Electrical Engineer

As a Principal Electrical Engineer , you'll play a key role in designing and developing innovative medical devices. You'll be a key contributor / leader on cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance, and ensure our products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

This role is expected to p rovide technical and functional leadership / supervision as required as the organization grows.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Functional leadership of the electrical engineering team, including talent development, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
  • Lead and provide strategic direction to a highly functional team of professionals responsible for the development of BMT medical device products through proactive communication, effective change management and strategy alignment.
  • Recruit, hire, develop and manage electrical engineers in order to effectively work with others to accomplish business goals.
  • Design, develop and implement electrical solutions to meet customer and design requirements
  • Execute new product development projects according to solid project plans and management principles (scope, timeline, milestones and risk-based decision making)
  • Implement designs into production, including developing functional test solutions
  • Create required specifications and technical documents including requirements specifications, architecture and design documentation and test and verification plans and reports
  • Design and prototype microcontroller and microprocessor-based products incorporating sensors, motor controls, communication and UX elements.
  • Design to and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, FCC, and CE
  • Design and implement test fixtures to verify the circuit boards and / or systems functionality for production testing
  • Understand user experiences to be able to make informed design decisions

Required Skills

Minimum

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Desire to lead and manage a team and a career path leading toward technical leadership
  • Experience with hardware development through the full product life-cycle
  • Ability to specify and evaluate electrical components based on performance, lifespan, and availability
  • Skilled in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer, PADS or equivalent
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong leadership abilities to influence and empower others
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and personal accountability

Preferred :

  • 3+ years medical device experience
  • Experience leading teams or working cross-functionally in an engineering environment
  • Familiarity with embedded system and microprocessor design
  • Understanding of EMI and UL requirements
  • Experienced in the design of experiments, data analysis, statistical methods and presentation of results

Required Experience
