Position Summary : The Director of Commercial Finance is a strategic leader responsible for driving financial performance, providing financial insights, and supporting business growth within the commercial operations of the company.
This role involves overseeing financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and reporting functions to support the company's strategic goals and ensure financial integrity.
The Director of Commercial Finance will collaborate closely with the CFO, senior leadership, and various departments to deliver comprehensive financial solutions and drive informed decision-making.
Job Responsibilities :
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies that support the company’s business objectives and growth targets.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses.
- Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
- Monitor key financial performance indicators and analyze variances from budgets and forecasts.
- Provide actionable insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Commercial Finance Management
- Partner with commercial teams to develop financial models and business cases for new products, services, and market opportunities.
- Analyze and optimize end-to-end sales processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Evaluate pricing strategies, sales performance, and customer profitability to optimize revenue and margins.
- Support contract negotiations and provide financial guidance on large deals and partnerships.
- Oversee the financial evaluation of marketing and sales initiatives to ensure ROI and financial viability.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and accounting standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management practices.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor and influence commercial finance business partners, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the team’s financial acumen and professional growth.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the finance department and other business units.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and cross-functional teams.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and financial
- Oversee the implementation and management of sales technologies, CRM systems, and other tools.
- Represent the finance department in meetings, presentations, and strategic initiatives.
Job Skills & Experience Requirements :
- Embrace and lead change effectively while maintaining that change within the company culture .
- Strong understanding of commercial operations and market dynamics.
- Proven experience in a financial planning and analysis leadership role, preferably in a similar industry.
- Finance leadership involving implementation / use of financial systems, including but not limited to system implementations at multi-billion-dollar, global companies.
- Strong financial modeling and data analysis skills.
- Excellent understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, ERP systems, and data visualization tools.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong sense of ownership and drive, including a desire and ability to dive into the details.
- Experience developing and implementing processes, policies, and procedures for an entrepreneurial company.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, segregation of duties and internal controls.
- This role should be comfortable with ambiguity and can "connect the dots" using their experience and expertise to build solutions.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field is required.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within or supporting commercial finance.
Work Environment :
On site and / or remote opportunity with up to 30% travel
