Summary :
The Case Worker will play a critical role in providing direct assistance and support services to individuals and families impacted by disasters.
The primary responsibility is to conduct outreach efforts in affected communities, assess needs, connect survivors with available resources, and ensure they have access to essential services.
The Case Worker will work collaboratively with local agencies, shelters, and disaster response teams to help disaster survivors rebuild their lives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conducts outreach to identify disaster survivors in need of assistance and services.
- Provide case management services, including intake assessments, service planning, and linking survivors with critical resources such as housing, food, medical care, and mental health services.
- Offer compassionate support and information to disaster survivors, helping them navigate relief and recovery programs.
- Collaborate with local and national agencies to secure additional resources and referrals for clients.
- Assist clients in completing applications for disaster assistance, emergency relief funds, and other recovery programs.
- Track and monitor client progress, ensuring follow-up and case closure when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain detailed case files, documenting all services provided per agency policies and relevant regulations.
- Advocate for survivors' needs by coordinating with local service providers, relief organizations, and government agencies.
- Participate in outreach events, community meetings, and disaster response activities to raise awareness of available resources and services.
- Provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care to a diverse population of survivors, including those with language barriers or special needs.
- Work with the response team to identify service gaps and make recommendations for program improvements.
Required Qualifications :
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in case management, outreach, or human services
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially those affected by trauma, disaster, or displacement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with individuals and families in crisis.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of disaster relief systems and resources, including FEMA, Red Cross, and local aid organizations.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage a varied caseload in dynamic environments.
- Willingness to travel to disaster sites and work extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working in a disaster relief or emergency response setting.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and experience working with diverse populations.
