The simulation program manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the simulation activities of the UNC-CH School of Nursing education programs : prelicensure, MSN, DNP, PhD.
The simulation program manager will ensure the quality and effectiveness of the simulation curriculum, faculty and staff development, and simulation resources.
The simulation program manager will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance the simulation program and promote simulation research.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the simulation curriculum in alignment with the program objectives and accreditation standards.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the simulation faculty and staff and facilitate their professional development in simulation pedagogy and technology.
- Manage the simulation budget, resources, and equipment, and ensure their optimal utilization and maintenance.
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures for the simulation program, in accordance with the best practices and ethical standards of simulation-based education.
- Foster a culture of innovation and excellence in simulation, and support simulation research and scholarship activities.
- Build and sustain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, such as clinical sites, other UNC health professions schools, professional organizations, and simulation vendors.
- Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent);
for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
May require terminal degree and licensure. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in nursing, healthcare, education, or related field.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) required and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Advanced (CHSE-A) preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in healthcare simulation.
- Working knowledge of extended reality (XR) includes but is not limited to, augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality technologies preferred.
- Working knowledge of integration of standardized patients into simulation activities preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in applying the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice, Society for Simulation in Healthcare Healthcare Simulationists Code of Ethics, and The Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Standards of Best Practice.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Prefer candidate with experience in simulation and working with healthcare task trainers and manikins.
Candidates should have experience with delivering training, preferably in a healthcare-related field. Basic understanding of research techniques and principles is preferred.
The department prefers candidates who have demonstrated the ability to effectively manage several projects, are detail oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and have previous experience working with diverse populations.
