RETAIL MERCHANDISE MANAGER POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Merchandise Manager to join our team at Birmingham Country Club. Reporting directly to the Director of Golf, a key member of our golf operations, you will be responsible for curating an enticing retail environment that reflects the latest trends in golf fashion, equipment, and accessories.

The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for product selection, strong negotiation skills with vendors, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, creating visually appealing displays, and collaborating with the golf staff to enhance the overall member shopping experience.

Experience Required

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have a strong background in retail, preferably in a golf related setting.
• Act as a role model for all golf shop employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
• Knowledge of golf equipment and apparel and remain current on merchandising innovations and marketing and business trends
• Exhibit excellent organizational, technological, and time management skills.
• Member-focused; delighted to meet the expectations and requirements of members and their guests.
• Possess high energy and a genuine desire to interact actively with the membership on a professional and hospitable level.
• A keen eye for detail, must have experience in inventory management.
• Excellent computer and POS system skills required. Club Essentials Software a bonus.

Essential Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Oversees development of buying plans and all golf merchandise related purchasing. Oversees golf merchandising concession within the golf operation.

Manages golf shop hourly staff.

• Presents a diverse and desirable array of golf apparel, and accessories in line with customer demands.
• Maintains levels of product appropriate for the season and level of traffic through golf shop.
• Maintains appropriate mix and levels of regular stock and seasonal products, within budgetary guidelines, while maintaining cost of goods sold margin percentage.
• Develops and executes general and seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies.
• Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop.
• Maintains product documentation from purchase to sale; including purchase orders, receiving records, invoice validation / payment, inventory records and special-order records to document merchandise history.
• Establishes sales and inventory recordkeeping policies and procedures, provide training and ensures compliance by staff.
• Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives.
• Maintains collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors.
• Establishes pricing structures for all inventory and special-order items in consideration of competitive prices and generally accepted profit margins.
• Analyzes sales and studies trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns and clearance sales.
• Ensures that the professional golf staff, golf shop employees as well as any necessary golf operation are educated in the products and merchandise carried in the BCC golf shop.
• Works with other department heads on approved staff uniforms; including pricing, buying and distribution to employees.
• Establishes and / or ensures employee purchase policies are adhered to including accurate accounting of employee purchases.
• Work directly with the accounting department to assure proper accounting practices, inventory schedule and budgetary goals

Benefits

COMPENSATION :

• $60,000-$65,000. Yearly salary will be tied to experience and finding the right dynamic candidate based on qualifications.
