Department CED / Health Type of Position Full-time, Contract Salary / Pay Rate $31.58 - $37.34 per hour based on experience and education Deadline to Apply ongoing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of a state approved diploma program in nursing, Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an NLN accredited program preferred.
Pennsylvania State Registered Nurse License, valid driver's license, and 2-3 years of community health and / or appropriate nursing experience preferred.
REQUIREMENTS Must pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug test. NATURE OF WORK PERFORMED This is a professional nursing position which assures holistic care in the area of maternal and child health, sexually transmitted disease, family planning, immunizations, tuberculosis and related communicable disease programs.
- Work is performed independently under the direction of the nursing director and health director. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED Provides comprehensive professional, public health nursing services for individuals and families in clinical and home settings through assessment, implementation, management and evaluation;
- develops, implements, and evaluates public health community prevention interventions; coordinates the referral of patients to appropriate community agencies to ensure continuity and comprehensive health promotion and disease prevention;
- participates in health bureau and Pennsylvania Department of Health trainings and conferences; prepares necessary correspondence and statistical reports;
- understands public health policies related to personal health programs; assists with orientation and supervision of new staff and student nurses;
participates in regular preparedness drills and trainings; and participates in continuous improvement events as assigned.
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Proficiency in technology including : electronic health records, Microsoft Office, public health surveillance and database programs;
- current certification in CPR; knowledge of the principals and practices of public health nursing; knowledge of interactions and effects of physical, social, and emotional illness in individuals and families;
- knowledge of local, state, and national health and welfare resources and their applications at the local level; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, subordinates and personnel of other agencies;
- ability to oversee clinic operations and prioritize office procedures; interviewing and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to oversee and implement needs of clients exhibiting transient, evasive or non-compliant behavior in a confidential clinic setting;
