JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant Oil & Gas oversees project and general ledger records, monitors costs, capital assets, contracts, revenue recognition, etc.
and prepares reconciliations, financial analysis, and management reports in the Calista Corporate Accounting Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide financial data throughout each period for assigned projects as needed.
Attend project kick-off meetings for new contracts (if applicable).
Setup new projects according to contract terms, including revenue recognition analysis.
Track, monitor, and analyze active projects and capital assets.
Communicate with Financial, Business, and Operations Managers and supervisors to ensure client billings are accurate and are issued timely.
Attend meetings in person as needed or requested by management.
Track, monitor, and analyze unbilled revenue.
Review and approve Expense Reports for accuracy and proper coding.
Review GL detail for cost accuracy and proper coding.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare project ledger to general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare bank reconciliations.
Prepare journal entries.
Prepare payroll records as required.
Provide support for audit requests and prepare audit workpapers.
Assist with research or duties as needed to support intercompany activities.
Prepare and maintain prepaid accounts amortization schedules.
Provide support for property, sales, and use tax returns.
Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting and G / L principles, practices, and procedures.
Ability to process a high volume of data with accuracy and meet various deadlines.
Solid understanding of GAAP as it relates to fixed assets, construction-in-progress, and revenue recognition.
Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
Ability to prepare and review complex invoices.
Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal communication methods.
Knowledge and skills in computerized accounting systems and ability to learn company-specific software. Proficiency in standard computer software, application programs, and e-mail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to read and understand contracts and agreements.
Ability to read and understand documents such as employee handbooks, safety rules, and Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for five years of progressive accounting experience.
Minimum of five years of accounting or related field experience.
Minimum of one year experience working for a large company, another Native Corporation, or in the oil and gas field.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint preferred.
Ability to pass a drug, background, reference, and credit check.
