Note : This recruitment will be used to fill on-call (relief) positions . An on-call employee is an employee whose appointment is intermittent, irregular or is normally less than half-time, but may work up to 35 hours in a work week.
On-call positions may be just the right fit for a person with minimal outside responsibilities and who may not want to always have the same routine.

As part of the Animal Health team, you will be performing a variety of veterinary procedures such as conducting health exams, administering vaccinations and medical treatments, performing diagnostics, and recording findings and assessments.
You may also assist veterinarians in surgery, including intubation, inducing / monitoring animals under anesthesia, and performing humane euthanasia.

Minimum Qualifications / Transferable Skills* :
Six (6) months of work experience in an animal health-related field; AND
Possession of a Certified Veterinary Technician certificate issued by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Board as outlined by OAR ; AND
Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a Euthanasia Technician certificate issued by the State of Oregon.
Preferred Qualifications / Transferable Skills* :
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications / transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates.

Two (2) years of Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) experience in a veterinary practice; OR one (1) year of CVT experience in an animal shelter setting.
Ability to effectively handle high-stress situations while still demonstrating the key values and mission of MCAS.
Demonstrated experience in supporting high-volume spay / neuter surgeries.
Demonstrated experience in assisting in the management of overall population / herd health in a shelter setting, including assisting in the management of infectious disease outbreaks.
Demonstrated ability to work both independent of and in collaboration with veterinarians, other CVTs, and veterinary assistants.
Transferable skills : Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience (including the military) or life experience that are relevant for this position .
