Job Scope : Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of complex electrical and instrumentation engineering assignments.

This level requires extensive progressive experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis.

This work will be performed under general supervision.

Ideal Background :

Education : Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university is Preferred.

Registration : Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience : This position requires 15+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.

Candidate should be comfortable configuring a system both independently, as well as in a team environment.

Candidate should be comfortable working on systems of various sizes (50 IO to 5000 IO systems).

Candidates should have field experience with the commissioning and startup phases of a project and be comfortable working in the field.

Candidate should have a working knowledge of field instrumentation, including but not limited to : IO design as it pertains to the field instruments and electrical connections to the automation system.

Candidate should be able to generate a cost estimate as it pertains to process controls; this includes all aspects such as instrument selection / installation, control system selection / configuration, commissioning, and startup.

Candidates should be familiar with remote I / O concepts from either Siemens PCS 7 or Emerson DeltaV (i.e. CHARMS and / or ET200SP HA).

Candidate should be familiar with various communication protocols which can be used with the Control Systems (i.e. HART, Profibus, Ethernet / IP, Modbus, Modbus TCP).

Candidate should be able to read, understand, and develop instrumentation loop sheets and electrical motor schematics.

Candidate should be familiar with, and be able to understand, P&ID drawings.

Candidate should be fully capable of working as a DCS lead-engineer on a large, multi-discipline project.

Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Candidate should be able to work as part of a project team.

Candidate should be fully capable and comfortable going into and performing work in a chemical plant environment.

Experience working with safety systems (SIS), batch systems, and the IEC61511 code requirements is preferred.
