ABOUT THE JOB
Olivia Hospital & Clinic is looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) Medical Lab Assistant. This position is responsible for accurately collecting specimens for medical provider ordered lab tests.
The position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients and coworkers.
This position does not require weekends!
Responsibilities :
- Specimen collection (blood, urine, throat, and nasopharyngeal).
- Interpret, verify and carry out medical provider ordered lab tests.
- Reference, interpret and apply laboratory specimen requirements.
- Maintains a clean and injury free environment for patients, self, and employees by observing and adhering to all established safety and blood borne pathogen protocol.
- Foster an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients while explaining and performing procedures.
- Provide instructions clearly and accurately for patient collected specimens.
- Maintains an environment of privacy, safety, and integrity for all patients at all times.
ABOUT YOU
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (preferred) - CMA certification will suffice for phlebotomy certification
- Phlebotomy experience (required)
- Laboratory experience or internship (preferred)
- Competent computer skills to navigate withing a laboratory information system (required)
- Possess a high degree of discretion and confidentiality (required)
- Able to read, write, make simple calculations, and follow oral and written instructions accurately (required)
