QUALIFICATIONS :
- 3-5 years of public accounting experience and / or within PE / VC
- CPA, highly preferred
This role is responsible for the accounting and reporting for a Senior Debt portfolio. The candidate will also oversee compliance and control processes related to multiple Private Debt Funds.
The Senior Debt portfolio involves investments in debt securities of middle-market companies backed by private equity sponsors, utilizing a variety of investment vehicles.
The candidate will provide financial support to teams across Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Tax, and Investor Relations by ensuring the timely and accurate completion of investment and financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements, and thorough reviews of financial and operational controls.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage all accounting, reporting, and compliance tasks for designated Senior Debt funds.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Calculate fund-level returns and communicate performance to the Investor Relations team.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) on fund performance for senior management.
- Administer certain funds, including preparing / reviewing and coordinating capital calls and distributions.
- Review the work of fund administrators on various Private Debt funds.
- Account for daily activities in the general ledger and portfolio accounting system.
- Track and update the portfolio of investments for various Private Debt funds.
- Oversee daily cash management, monitoring, and reconciliation with the bank.
- Lead the preparation / review of year-end audited financials in collaboration with external auditors.
- Maintain a calm and composed demeanor when working under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve shared goals.
- Provide timely communication to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Independently manage competing timelines and priorities.
Qualifications / Experience :
- Master’s degree in Accounting.
- 3+ years of related experience, including financial reporting; 4+ years of experience required for the Senior Associate level.
- CPA certification and prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.
- Strong experience in GAAP financial reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with SEC-related work or Business Development Companies (BDC) is a plus.
- Experience in private equity or private debt valuation is a plus.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Experience with Investran, WSO, and Advent Geneva is a plus.
