Truss Assembler

Nelson Truss Inc is seeking to hire a Truss Assembler to work in our Edgerton Truss plant . This is a first shift position, Monday through Friday from 6 : 00am - 2 : 30pm (6 : 00am - 3 : 30pm during our busy season).

Job duties include :

• Assist in the construction and assembly of metal plated wood trusses using jig systems such as rolling gantry table and hand press systems.
• Lift and handle dimensional lumber of varying sizes and lengths.
• Climb on to jig systems to arrange material properly.
• Retrieve metal connector plates per shop drawings and place in proper locations for building trusses.
• Operate fork lift to move lumber carts, trash, etc.
• Mark trusses with tag numbers.
• Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together.
• Re-stock plates, lumber carts, pallets, etc.
• Perform general area clean-up duties.

Qualifications :

• A qualified applicant will have basic carpentry knowledge
• Ability to read and follow engineered drawings
• Basic understanding of lumber sizes / grades / types
• Ability to use trade tools (such as saws, hammers, squares, tape measures, etc.)
• Basic understanding and use of arithmetic along with ability to use a calculator
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Forklift experience is beneficial, but not required

Physical Requirements :

Applicants must be able to lift and / or move up to 100 pounds.
