SPANG Career Collective , a recruiting agency, is working on behalf of our client, a leading energy utility company, to find an Electric Utility Resource Planner to join their team.

About the Role
Our client is seeking an Electric Utility Resource Planner with significant experience in production cost modeling and resource planning for electric utilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background using tools like PLEXOS to evaluate and troubleshoot model results, make strategic decisions on assumptions, and effectively communicate insights to both internal teams and regulatory bodies.
In this role, you will impact key areas of resource planning, fuel forecasting, and regulatory strategy, providing expert testimony and contributing to critical business decisions that shape the company’s energy strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee economic analysis and forecasting related to production costs, fuel needs, and resource planning for electric systems.
- Leverage PLEXOS or similar software to perform production cost modeling, evaluating and addressing any concerns to ensure model accuracy.
- Make strategic decisions regarding modeling assumptions and align these with overall resource planning and regulatory goals.
- Communicate findings effectively, both in written and oral presentations, to stakeholders across all levels, including regulatory bodies.
- Support regulatory filings by preparing testimony, responding to data requests, and serving as an expert witness when required.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support resource investment, acquisition, and strategic transaction opportunities.
- Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and expertise across various aspects of resource planning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in electric utility resource planning, with a focus on production cost modeling (experience with PLEXOS strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate, troubleshoot, and refine model outcomes effectively.
- Experience presenting technical findings and providing testimony in regulatory settings.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Engineering, or Finance.
- Strong command of modeling, statistical, and analytical software.
- Excellent quantitative, project management, communication, and organizational skills.
